A device that can be used to unlock any vehicle was seized by BԪַ RCMP this week. They're trying to return it to its rightful owner.
A key fob programmer, which can be used to unlock virtually any vehicle, has been seized by BԪַ RCMP.

The device was taken along with a quantity of illegal drugs after a man was arrested Thursday inside a stolen car.

“These kits are costly and are used by auto dealers and mechanics to program key fobs for vehicles,” BԪַ RCMP Sgt. Scott Powrie said. “In the wrong hands, it could be used to assist a would-be thief to steal virtually any vehicle, and we are very happy to have recovered it.”

Police are now trying to determine the rightful owner of the key fob programmer.

On Thursday morning about 9:30 a.m., officers patrolling along Burnett Avenue noted a man sitting inside a Honda Civic that had been reported stolen. The 48-year-old man, who is known to police, was arrested without incident. Police will recommend to Crowncounselthat he be charged with a variety of offences.

Anyone who believes they own the recovered key fob programmer should call BԪַ RCMP at 250.762.3300 and reference file number 2025-1488.
