A craft brewery near the border between BԪַ and Lake Country plans to expand its service area onto the buildingBԪַ second floor.
The application by operators of Britannia Brewing, at 8999 Jim Bailey Rd. in a mostly industrial area, will be considered by BԪַ city councillors on Jan. 21.
Municipal planners recommend support, saying the proposed expansion is unlikely to have any negative impact on the area. In fact, owners of a nearby brewery have provided a letter of support for BritanniaBԪַ expansion.
“Breweries work better together than separate, and we have found that to be the case,” says Chris Neufeld of Grey Fox Brewing.
Britannia Brewing has proved to be a “good fit for the industrial park”, says another nearby business owner, Jody Evans of Lubeworx Wholesale. “They added what was missing, a place to gather and celebrate life, or just meet for a beer after work,” Evans said.
Britannia BrewingBԪַ plant, which opened in late 2023, covers 10,000 sq.-ft and is located next to the popular Okanagan Rail Trail. The company also operates breweries in Ladner and Steveston in the Lower Mainland.
