Council also gave its support to a plan to dredge Green Bay from silt that makes navigation difficult at times for boaters. Cost of the nearly $1 million project will be borne by the 40 homeowners along the bay but the work will be overseen by the city.听
De Jong said the silting of the bay had been going on for many years, and he was glad to see remedial work finally underway.
But he again expressed some concern over potential cost-overruns, and wondered if city officials had included a sufficiently large contingency fund in case the project goes above $1 million.听
Siebel said: 鈥淲e feel we鈥檝e been conservative, but then, with a lot of tendering projects, it does depend on whoB次元官网网址 available to tender. So we鈥檒l be eagerly awaiting those tendering results.鈥
