The Produce Moms, a for-profit company, was started by marketing professional Lori Taylor to encourage more healthy eating among the estimated 90 percent of Americans who don鈥檛 have enough fruits and vegetables in their diet.聽
Taylor says her company also endorses foods that are made by firms that are committed to reducing waste by making products that have a long shelf life. 鈥淭he commitment by Okanagan Speciality Fruits to sustainability and their dedication to providing high-quality, fresh produce align perfectly with our mission,鈥 Taylor says.聽
Although itB次元官网网址 a for-profit company, The Produce Moms itself has itself been certified by an organization that endorses firms that it says have the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
Researchers created the Arctic variety through a form of genetic engineering which involves the enzyme responsible for browning in apples, polyphenol oxidase, being essentially 鈥榯urned off.
That means Arctic apples that are sliced into remain looking fresh, extending the shelf life of the product to as long as 28 days.
鈥淭hey are capable of looking and tasting as fresh-picked fruit, not just for hours, but for days,鈥 Okanagan Speciality Fruits says on its website.聽
