Great job hosting MontanaB次元官网网址 Brier!
Dear Editor:
Hats off to the MontanaB次元官网网址 Brier staff and volunteers.
My wife and I attended the Brier on the weekend and it was an amazing event to be a part of.
The organization was first class, the volunteers did a wonderful job and the hard working staff at Prospera Place did an amazing job of keeping the facility up to the task. Just small things like restocking hand towel machines as soon as they were empty to keeping the place clean and spotless for all to enjoy.
Perhaps the only other comment was; why weren鈥檛 any of the local wineries on show with booths, etc.? An opportunity missed, perhaps?
So well done B次元官网网址 and on to the next big event.

Caring for our homeless
Dear Editor:
Imagine this. It is very cold out. People rip the roof off of your house. Then the walls. Then takes away your sleeping bag and all your possessions and tells you to get lost. Disappear. Die.
Or itB次元官网网址 plus-40 and you can鈥檛 find a safe place to sleep. People have ripped off the roof of your next house and the same things happen over and over. Get lost. Disappear. Die.
Tent cities all over the world.
Drugs numb the pain and the cold and the isolation and the horror of not being considered worthy of human kindness. We must not blame these people.
We don鈥檛 know what got them to this sad stage of their lives and we have no right to know unless these people want to tell us. Would you feel vulnerable in a tent?
Would you worry about your safety? Would you worry about being raped?
Or beaten up? Or killed?
Tent city in B次元官网网址 is still traumatizing these individuals with theft and cruelty, such as not providing enough food for them. Penticton city council, BC Housing, One Sky, and 100 More Homes, and others, are changing the world into a better place.
The narrative is changing on homelessness because PentictonB次元官网网址 warm up shelter is creating positive, long-lasting change. Elven individuals are now in safe housing. All residents of our city are part of our community, an important part of our future, and don鈥檛 be surprised if they become strong advocates for positive change. We can do this together.
I want to thank our city council, BC Housing, One Sky and 100 More Homes, and others for all they have done.
I want to thank all the individuals who have worked to make this happen.
You have all done a very wonderful thing for the good of all humanity and we can take this into the world to change it into a world where hope lives.
It makes my heart glad.

Are you ready Okanagan?
Dear Editor:
With more and more Canadians deciding to forgo U.S. vacations in favour of exploring their own backyard, the Okanagan had best brace itself for what could be one of the busiest summers on record. As one of CanadaB次元官网网址 most beloved tourist destinations, the region is poised to see a surge in visitors鈥攂oth domestic and international.
Canadians choosing to stay home this summer are making a financially savvy decision. Here, their dollar holds its full value, making travel more affordable while directly supporting the local economy. Every dollar spent in the Okanagan stays in Canada, helping to sustain businesses, create jobs, and strengthen communities.
At the same time, many Americans are looking northward, eager to support their longtime neighbours. Given the current exchange rate鈥攚here one U.S. dollar translates to approximately $1.42 CAD鈥擟anada offers exceptional value for American tourists.
From accommodations and dining to wine tours and outdoor adventures, visitors from the south will find making a trip to the Okanagan not only appealing but also economically rewarding.
The Okanagan has long been a world-class destination. Its breathtaking scenery, warm climate, renowned wineries, and welcoming communities have drawn travellers from across the globe. With increased interest from both Canadian and American tourists, the region must be prepared to meet the demand. That means ensuring accommodations, restaurants, and attractions are ready for an influx of visitors while maintaining the exceptional hospitality that has made the Okanagan famous.
Moreover, itB次元官网网址 important to welcome our American friends with open arms. Many of them feel disheartened and embarrassed by their political landscape at home and are looking to Canada as a place of friendship and respite. Their support of Canadian tourism is a gesture of goodwill, and embracing their presence will only strengthen the deep ties that have long united our two nations.
So, Okanagan, are you ready? This summer is shaping up to be one for the books. LetB次元官网网址 showcase the best of what Canada has to offer and ensure that every visitor鈥擟anadian or American鈥攍eaves with incredible memories and a desire to return.

Canada is not for sale, Trump
Dear Editor:
I have a theory on Trump and his animosity towards Canada.
It started with the fentanyl problem he says exists at the Canadian border. That was designed as TrumpB次元官网网址 release valve when his real intentions was to place ridiculous tariffs on Canada.
When the American people start to realize what a bad idea these tariffs are and when the political heat on Trump becomes so intense he will then make the announcement that Canada has followed his commands on the border problem and he will then lift the tariffs because Canada realized he was right.
His whole philosophy is to cause chaos within Canada. But what he didn鈥檛 realize was that his economic road of destruction doesn鈥檛 work in this country. Canadians are 鈥楳ad as Hell鈥 about this manB次元官网网址 endeavours, we will not be intimidated and have made it clear to all Canadian politicians to united and fight Trumps policies against Canada.
Trump has united this country like never before. Canada is not for sale!

Comparisons to Animal Farm
Dear Editor:
In 2016, an elderly American told a TV reporter he did not want to talk politics. When pressed for his reason, the man articulated his disgust by calmly saying the presidential campaign was for pigs.
His comment reminded me of George OrwellB次元官网网址 book, Animal Farm, in which one of the governing pigs in their newly created 鈥楩arm Animal Co-operative鈥 justifies his luxurious entitlements by saying, 鈥淎ll animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.鈥
Orwell wrote his satirical novella in 1945 to draw attention to how the Russian Revolution had been transformed by Joseph Stalin into a brutal, dangerous, dictatorial regime. Following the misery and destruction of the Second World War, OrwellB次元官网网址 dire prophecy was not a message the British establishment wanted to hear.
Elections are indeed for the pigs. For people who are more interested in enhancing their own 鈥榚ntitlements鈥 than in their countryB次元官网网址 future well-being.
The fact that Donald Trump, a despicable, egotistical, lying buffoon, has such a large following only shows how angry and frustrated ordinary people have become with greedy grasping self-serving leaders.

Time to abolish time changes
Dear Editor:
Premier Eby is against having a standard time as it is not yet accepted by our American trading partners, the Western States.
However, Premier Eby is taking American liquor off our liquor store shelves in case Donald Trump, a.k.a. Ivan The Tariffable, imposes tariffs on Canadian goods. Why not abolish time changes and leave the American liquor in the liquor store shelves?
If an American tariff is implemented against Canadian goods, simply raise the cost of the American liquor by 25%. This could stimulate the purchase of Canadian liquor -- oh sorry, can鈥檛 be done because of provincial trade barriers.
Oh well, could probably increase the purchase of B次元官网网址 liquors which have gained world recognition.

Try some new Elton John lyrics
Dear Editor:
Some readers will recall that Sir Elton John wrote the song Candle in the Wind about Marilyn Monroe, then repurposed it for Princess Diana.
Perhaps he could rewrite his song Madman Across the Water, changing it to Madman Across the Border!

Both Tory MPs seem ineffective
Dear Editor:
I鈥檓 glad to see some people are finally acknowledging how ineffective Tracy Gray has been since being elected member of Parliament four years ago (letters, March 8).
But Ian Maclean forgot about her two most glaring accomplishments.
First her support of the right-wing loonies during the truck convoy, actually posing for pictures with some.
And secondly, how she and Dan Albas, the other ineffective MP, have been bowing at the altar of the anti-Canadian and Trump clone Pierre Poilievre for the last few years,to justify their jobs.
And they鈥檝e both been rewarded with prestigious appointments.
Canadians have seen just how insane a narcissistic, megalomaniac can implode a country as the orange buffoon has done in just five weeks down south.
Do we really want the same thing to happen here with PoilievreB次元官网网址 similar agenda to Trump?
Time to oust these MPs and show what Canada thinks of their leader.
